The PE programme offers a range of activities which are enjoyable and at the same time provides opportunities for pupils to develop a positive association with physical activity.
The instructional programme serves to provide a wide range and well balanced PE activities which will aid in the development of the physical, intellectual, social and emotional aspects of the pupils. In addition, PE activities help develop proficiency in physical skills in pupils. This will help them channel their desire for play into constructive avenues. Pupils can derive greater satisfaction as they attain a wider range of physical skills hence their interest will be extended. A well balanced programme of skill development is necessary not only to lay the foundation for participation in daily activities but for pupils' recreational pursuits.
In order to ensure developmental appropriateness and to achieve progression and coherence, the teaching and learning of PE varies across the different educational levels. The PE programme is modified and refined continually based on the nature, needs, capacities and interests of pupils.
